Mingo County PSD Board Meeting 04/23/2024

Alright. I have some more information regarding some of the water issues that we are seeing in the county. I went to the Mingo County PSD Board Meeting this morning and listened to the regular minutes of the meeting and asked some questions. The board was very receptive to my questions and took a great deal of time to explain everything in detail for me so I can give educated answers to questions that I may be getting out as I am speaking to everyone. The water problems in the Justice area are being aggressively worked on by the PSD and plans are in place to get things moving. It is going to take a little bit of time to get everything setup the right way with the grants and everything else that has to go in to it but they are working hard on it. They are also aware of many of the other issues throughout the county like Beech Creek, Hanover, Chattaroy, and Gilbert that they have answers too but it too will take a little bit of time to get everything planned out and working. If anyone needs any specifics on a certain area message or call me and Ill let you know more.

Marrowbone Voter Signature Canvas

I am pleased to report that the voter signature canvas in the Marrowbone area yesterday was a success. I was able to talk to some folks and get some signatures. I was not able to spend as much time as I wanted to so I am going to set another day in the next week. I am still hearing very troubling accounts of 35-45 plus minute response times for EMS which obviously remains to cause me a great deal of concern. This is something that absolutely needs to be handled and I have already thought through a viable solution. I need to get some more details as far as how much money the county commission receives every year so that I can start looking at resources and a budget but I have printed the commission budgets out for the last 4 years and I am going through them line by line.

I will not be in Kermit today because of the weather. I was waiting to see if it was going to subside but it looks as if it will be with us through at least until the early evening hours. I will be setting up in town tomorrow to ask for more signatures to get on the general election ballot in November and to just sit and talk to everyone about what they want to see change in the county. I look forward to meeting everyone, hearing what you are concerned about, and try to find ways to correct the many problems we have in the community.

Voter Signature Canvas

I will be conducting a voter signature canvas from Monday March 25th through Saturday March 30th. I will be getting out and speaking with the citizens about the issues they would like to see resolved or any problems they think need to be addressed.

The schedule I have so far will begin at Marrowbone and surrounding areas up the left fork on Monday. Tuesday I will be in the town of Kermit. Wednesday I will move through East Kermit and Naugatuck. Thursday I will be in Lenore. Friday I will be moving through Winco Block through Nolan up to Chattaroy and Saturday I will be moving towards Belo and 119 to Logan. Things are subject to change as the weather is supposed to be interesting this next week but I will post any changes in my schedule on here should they arise.

I will be scheduling dates to speak with the rest of the county in the near future. This is just the beginning of my tour that is going to run through to the end of October leading in to the November 5th Election. I will be asking for signatures from voters that think their values and goals for the stabilization and growth of the county align with mine and together we can start to turn this county around.

Twin Branch Raceway

After doing some investigation on this matter I have found some very interesting facts associated with this project. The Commission is now on board, what I gather from the last meeting, with supporting the opening of the raceway. After fighting this so hard, and anyone can go back and watch the previous meetings, I think it strange for them to announce their unwavering support for this mere months before an election when it has been published for roughly the last 2 years (https://www.developmingo.com/single-post/after-nearly-a-decade-of-delays-twin-branch-ready-for-races-to-begin) that there were no problems with the DEP and DOH access roads because they had already been worked out. This is the very thing that the commission has been claiming has been holding the raceway up on their end, along with the mine leasing issues, and why they were not able to act on it. Not to mention they said they had no idea that those issues were resolved despite the above referenced article and you can find the article on the Mingo County Redevelopment Authority's website under the announcements tab. I find it very difficult to believe that a regular citizen, myself, can go through and find these things out by simply doing a days worth of research, not making a single phone call, when all of the resources available to the county commissioners by virtue of all of the important people they claim they know and speak with from the cabinet secretaries all the way to the Governor himself could not help them identify and resolve an issue that was not an issue at all. I fully support this raceway and will work continuously to see that whatever aid I can give to make this a reality and help revitalize the economy of our county is available to those who would see it succeed. Ladies and gentlemen that is what it means to be a full time Commissioner and not just an office holder. That is what you will have when I am elected. A problem solver not just someone who occupies a seat.

WV Class A Basketball Championship

I want to congratulate our Tug Valley Panthers for claiming the WVSSAC Class A title yesterday afternoon in Charleston. They played a great team in Tucker County and played an even better game.
